The Other Side of Time Thesis

The Other Side of Time is a fluid and immersive narrative project exploring the ways that the transcendence of linear time can coincide with blackness and liberation, using an afro surrealist lens and using dreams and ancestral communication as guiding concepts.

 

The project aims to challenge the idea of form, linear structure, and perfection while also creating a narrative about a character who learns to embrace being formless and unrestricted in darkness and outside of linear time.

 

The narrative takes the form of 14 illustrations that are structured with no strict beginning or ending so they they can be read as a cycle rather than a linear narrative. There are also 4 short dream sequences made with found footage, music, and handmade animations to abstractly correspond with the different parts of the narrative.
