Designs and an animated video based on text about acid jazz, a music genre combining jazz, funk, hip hop, and dance music.
Initial Designs
Made to familiarize myself with the text and the idea of acid jazz. I wanted to experiment with visual depictions of acid jazz and its core characteristics.
Animation
I picked one of the visual explorations I did in phase 1 and expanded it into an animated video that displays the text with illustrations I made to accompany it.
I wanted to display the text in a real-life application, so I formatted the animation as if it were a looping animation for an acid jazz youtube playlist (mockup pictured below)
I play a lot of youtube playlists like this in the background when I work so I thought it would be fun to design one myself!
